Provides psychoeducation as indicated in the PCP
Assists with crisis interventions
Assists the Team Lead with behavioral and substance use disorder interventions
Assists with the development of relapse prevention and disease management strategies
Participates in the initial development, implementation, and ongoing revision of the PCP
Communicates the beneficiary’s progress and the effectiveness of the strategies and interventions to the Team Lead as outlined in the PCP

The paraprofessional mental health work may have a bachelor’s degree in a field other than behavioral sciences or have a high school degree, and has work experience with adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses or with individuals with similar human-services needs. May have related training (e.g., certified occupational therapy assistant, home health care aide) or work experience (e.g., teaching) and life experience. Skill and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent metal illness and respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential. Must have a valid driver’s license for North Carolina.
